Unlock Your Brain Harden Your System — Cybersecurity conference in Brest 2026

Yesterday, Thursday 18 December 2025, shortly before noon, Bruno Tréguier’s signal fell silent.

The members of La Cantine numérique de Brest learned the sad news with great sorrow and emotion.

Our thoughts are with his family, his wife Isabelle, and his children Laurent and Sylvain. You can count on La Cantine numérique de Brest during this difficult time.

A passionate advocate of free software and open source, Bruno — “our Bruno” — was a key figure in the Brest tech scene and beyond, known nationally for his love of amateur radio. Co-founder of Infini in 1995 (the first non-profit internet service provider in Finistère), vice-president of the IMT Atlantique Alumni association, and a member of the board of the Réseau des Émetteurs Français (REF), he had also been a member of La Cantine’s board for the past three years.

Today, filled with sadness, we honour Bruno’s commitment to the association and his work at La Cantine de Brest, where he was known for his dedication, his skills, and his kindness.

Bruno’s expertise and humanity stood out in a world where solidarity is too often lacking.

Bruno was also a pillar of the Unlock Your Brain, Harden Your System conference. His investment in the event was — and will remain — key to its success. He loved the conference for its diversity, its openness, and the connections it fosters. Speakers will remember the care he took to ensure that everything went smoothly during their trip and stay in Brest.

Bruno, without you, this conference will lose some of its flavour. But know that we will carry on — because that is undoubtedly what you would have wanted us to do: keep learning, keep sharing knowledge, smiles, and jokes.

For the 10th anniversary of Unlock, Bruno had found the perfect visual — a nod to one of his favourite films: Brazil (directed by Terry Gilliam). We had planned to organise a screening, but scheduling got in the way before the end of 2025. Watching it without him will be very hard. We will nonetheless find a time to make it happen — as Bruno so wanted. We’ll keep you posted.

This year, everything went beautifully at the Quartz – Scène nationale de Brest,
except for the social event, which once again took place at Loco Loca, in a great atmosphere.
